Skulls & Roses by Montegrappa is an ode to life that is reborn. The renowed Company from Bassano relied on our creativity and our engraving techniques to enhance its iconic Extra model. Discover the project development, proposals and possibilities offered by our digital process.

The concept for the limited edition revolved around the theme of rebirth and required the presence of the skull, memento mori par excellence and characteristic element of many important collections of the brand.
Our texture designer and artist Ilaria combined it to the rose, symbol of rebirth and the blossoming of life.
The harmony of the whole comes from the careful care in arranging and orienting the individual elements, combining free hand drawing and digital design, to obtain an overall view of spaces, full and empty, until finding the perfect balance.
The big picture: DRE Render
With our DRE Render we provide our customers the executive preview of the finished product dressed with our textures. This way the Montegrappa team could analyze the project from every angle and even evaluate the effect of light on metal. Try it yourself: move the cursor on the pen and have fun moving it:
Laser: light at your service
Skulls & Roses is produced in limited edition: 333 silver fountain pens and roller pens.
The bas-relief has been engraved on the hood, stem and case of each model with 5-axis laser technology.
In addition to enhancing the silhouette of the pen and the quality of the material, we calibrated the engraving depth to ensure maximum comfort in the grip and the writing act.

According to Montegrappa, real luxury is having new ways to celebrate the pleasure of writing by hand.
We have made this message our own, putting our digital soul at the service of writing. Therefore we made 3 other patterns for the EXTRA model, in addition to Skulls & Roses:
• Art Déco: the characteristic style that spread from 1925 in Paris and featured by a synthetic and elegant aesthetic and at the same time aerodynamic and opulent.
• Acanthus: our interpretation of a botanical decoration requested by the client. The refined style is highlighted by the play of light and shade.
• Arabic: intricate lattices and perforated screens that filter the light, create beautiful patterns and a sense of tranquility. This style emphasizes symmetry and proportions.
The 3 models were supplied in a standard format for web display and are available in the configurator on the Montegrappa website to create custom models.
